Kia ora koutou,
Week two has passed by in a blur! The
students in Room 18 have worked hard this week and have settled quickly into a
learning routine.
Monday morning had all students heading off
for their first technology lesson of the year, where they enjoyed the hands-on
challenges set for them by Mr Kathnaur in hard materials.
Later in the week, students were split into
two groups that attended either Visual Art with Mr Heke, or Te Reo with Matua
Iki.
The highlight of Thursday’s learning was a
maths lesson that had all students making jelly. They worked hard to solve the
measurement problem posed and the reward later that afternoon was very sweet.
On Friday, students enjoyed meeting with
the Counties Sports facilitators who took them for a game of Turbo Touch and
then Ki o Rahi. Below are some photos of Room 18 working hard – both indoors
and outdoors.
Students received a copy of the school
newsletter this week, which contains useful information for parents and
families. They will also have brought home the Home Study for Term One that
contains a range of enjoyable and interactive activities. Homework is encouraged,
as an enhancement to in-class learning, and all students will be expected to
participate unless there is a note or explanation from home. Room 18 will share
and discuss their homework progress on a fortnightly basis throughout the term.
