Maths is Fun! But so is Reading and Writing!

Maths:

This week for maths, Room 18 carried out an investigation by making ramps and recording the distances a marble could roll from different heights on the ramp.

The marbles were rolled from five different heights and the distances were recorded on a scatter graph.

Students are learning to create a scatter graph to display data, to read a graph to find out information, and to use a scatter graph to predict outcomes.

Reading:

During the term, Mrs Todd has been reading from the novel Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. On Thursday we read the thrilling conclusion to Gregor's adventures. This novel has had us all captivated - especially because of the cliff hanger ending to each chapter!
The book is followed by four others in the series and many students have said they want to borrow or purchase the sequel. Parents may want to assist their children to make a request from their local library, or the book can be purchased from bookdepository.com. This website has free international postage and often offers books at a great discount.

House Event:

Friday was House Event where students were able to take part in various tabloid sports in order to win points for their house. At the end of the day the points are tallied and the best house wins. Students took part in relays. They played Rob the Nest, Aussie Rules, Volley Ball, Padder Tennis and more. All students participated with good attitude and the day was a fun day for all. An added bonus was that the day was also a fundraiser for the Heart Foundation. Room 18 raised over $40 for the cause. Thank you parents and students for giving your support.

3-way conferences:

These will take place on Tuesday, 31st March. Thank you to those parents who have been able to book a time to come with your child. The first reports of the year will be handed out at the conference.
